He was the son of the late Wesley and Virgie McCommon Purifoy. He was a member of Westside United Methodist Church and owner of Motor Port Body Shop.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vila F. Purifoy; two brothers; and six sisters.He is survived by two sons, Billy Carroll Burroughs and wife, Kathy, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Clifford Lee Burroughs and wife, Johnlyn, of Camden; daughter, Penny Lynn Edge and husband, Jeff, of Dothan, Alabama; two grandsons, Brent Burroughs and Alex Edge; two granddaughters, Jill Lane and Viktoriya Edge; one great-grandson, Spencer Lane; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Lane; special niece, Jeannie Jester; special nephew, Dennis Russell; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, at the funeral home. Funeral service were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, also at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Goza officiating. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Department. Mrs. Maus was born November 5, 1938, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, the loving daughter of Roscoe R. and Martha L. Thompson Franke. On June 10, 1956, Janet married N. Keith Maus; he survives. Earlier in life, Mrs. Maus worked at Hook’s Drugs and the Dairy Queen. She was a homemaker and was associated with and was the bookkeeper at Ace Hardware at the Westhill Shopping Center for many years. Mrs. Maus was a faithful member of Westside Community Church where she was a member of the Music Team. She enjoyed working in her hosta garden and reading. Mrs. Maus is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Keith; sons, Brian Lee (Barbara) Maus of Columbus and Michael Lynn (Kimberly) Maus of Nashville; grandchildren, Jordan (Emily) Maus of Columbus, Cody (Lindsay) Maus of Indianapolis, Mallory Maus of Indianapolis and Brennen Maus of Nashville; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Noelle Maus; a brother, Robert Franke of Columbus; four nieces; and several other relatives. Mrs. Maus was preceded by her parents and her sister-in-law, Noel Franke. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Westside Community Church; Pastor Dennis W. Aud will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Westside Community Church. Mrs. Maus will be laid to rest next to her parents at Garland Brook Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Westside Community Church Building Fund or the American Heart Association.
